Driving home with my dog Nitro after adopting him this year, I realized that he’s my third adopted son. And so the name ‘My Three Sons’ for what would become a group of twelve images came to me. Like Nitro, my two previous dogs, Lucky and Manny, were rescue dogs. All three of them are Jack Russell Terriers. ‘My Three Sons’ begins by introducing Lucky, Manny, and Nitro, then chronicles their zest for life and the joy that they brought to others as they accompanied me during my day. These photos show that magic moments are everywhere if you’re open to seeing and capturing them, and they remind us to always carry our camera. To thank those who saved my three sons, I donate my share of the sales of these images and to rescue groups, including Multiple Breed Rescue, and Happy Paw Ukraine. -Bob Soltys

Bio:
Bob Soltys’ love of photography began in 1967 when he read the Eye of Eisenstaedt. Shortly after that, his aunts gave him a Kodak Instamatic camera for Christmas. In 1971, Bob brought his camera along when his fellow high school students walked out to protest a teachers’ strike that would have prevented seniors from graduating on time. The weekly paper bought his photos, launching a career capturing people and events on film. A former Navy officer, Bob is the coauthor of My Wonderful Life, about his dog Manny, who died in 2023. He and Nitro, a Jack Russell Terrier mix, live in Northeast Ohio.
